The Scary Scurry 5K & Fun Run is a spooktacular morning of movement, costumes, and community – all in support of making play possible for children and families.
Whether you are racing in a superhero cape, jogging as a pumpkin, or strolling with little goblins, this event is open to everyone and is all about fun, connection, and giving back.
Costumes are encouraged, celebrated, and awarded! Prizes will be given for creativity, spirit, and spooky style.
Bonus Perk:
The Museum will be open exclusively to event participants that morning - just for you and your boo crew!
RACE DAY LOGISTICS
We're so excited to welcome you to Children's Museum of Franklin's Scary Scurry 5K & Kids Fun Run this Sunday, October 18!
Here's everything you need to know before race day:
Scary Scurry 5K
Bib Pickup: Pick up your race bib at the Museum on Friday (9:00 a.m.–5:30 p.m.), Saturday during regular operating hours (9:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m.), or during our special after-hours pickup on Saturday (5:00–7:00 p.m.). Bibs will also be available Sunday morning before the race.
Race Day Registration & Check-In: 7:15–7:45 a.m. Same-day registration is available during this window.
Race Start: 8:00 a.m. SHARP! Please arrive with enough time to check in and get ready.
Medals & Awards: All race participants will receive an official race medal! We'll also recognize our race winners and award prizes for the best costumes.
Race Shirts: A reminder that race shirts are available only to eligible registered 5K participants who signed up by the shirt deadline. A big thank-you to Xpressions for our official race shirts!
Kids Fun Run
No bibs, but plenty of stickers! Our littlest racers don't need race bibs, but they can pick up special stickers at check-in!
Fun Run Start: 9:15 a.m. SHARP!
Still want to join? Same-day registration is available until 9:00 a.m., just 15 minutes before the run!
Medals: All Fun Run participants will receive official race medals after their run!
Parking & Race Day Logistics
Parking: Please plan to park in the MBTA gravel lot at the corner of Cottage and Union Streets (right next to the Museum), at the Fletcher Field parking lot, or at The Rome Restaurant.
Safety First: Please follow the directions of police officers and volunteers stationed along the race route. They're helping make this a safe and fun morning for everyone!
Race Village Treats: We'll have water and snacks generously provided by our neighborhood Shaw's, plus delicious bagel bites from Elizabeth's Bagels!
And Yes, the Museum Is OPEN!
Play Before or After You Scurry! The Museum will be open exclusively to race participants and their families from 7:30–10:30 a.m. Come inside, explore, and enjoy some playtime as part of your race day experience!
Museum Schedule: We'll close at 10:30 a.m. to reset our space before reopening to the general public at 12:00 p.m.

Costumes are encouraged, smiles are practically guaranteed, and we can't wait to see our community come together!
